Prayer for me then was all about Saints and the Virgin Mary. While praying directly to ‘the Big Guy’ was of course encouraged, I was taught that you could go through a Saint to send your prayer along. The idea being that the Saint had God’s ear and would intercede on your behalf. I read stories of Saints all the time and collected Saint prayer cards like other kids collected baseball cards. Some saints were specialists, like St. Jude the patron Saint of the impossible.

Even though I left the Catholic Church years ago, I have to admit that it's left its mark. I still find the mythology is incredibly rich, spooky and downright interesting when viewed through a mystic/anthropological/artistic lens. I painted this series of cards as an homage to the Saint cards I used to collect as a child. They represent qualities and ideas I feel that I need a reminder of now and again. The series also reflects my own non-denominational feelings about the need for prayer.

Prayer Catch and Release Program - site specific installation
by Julienne Givot

Write down your prayer and deposit in the box. Once you are done, surrender your need to worry about whatever it was your prayer was about and let (enter your term for a Higher Power / Divine here) take care of it.

Consider it out of your hands to worry so much about it. You have a Partner in all of this so have faith and let go and Let God (or whatever equivalent you might believe in even if just a teeny bit).

Really it's incredibly embarrassing how remiss I am in keeping this updated. Blame the distraction caused by life and those pesky networking sites like MySpace and Facebook which I do manage to keep somewhat updated. Be that as it may... here is an update for 2009.

I will finally get to show my "Slugs of Serenity" prayer cards at an upcoming show at Frankenart Mart this month. The theme of the show is prayer in all it's general and specific forms. It's odd that the theme has had a bit of controversial effect. Odd for many reasons but for me mainly because with all that's going on you'd think prayer would be making a serious comeback.

Anywho... here is an example of one of my quirky paintings / cards;
There are a set of six faux saints and accompanying prayers (of sorts). They are an homage to the Catholic Saint cards that I collected the way most kids collected baseball cards. They mainly act as reminders or prayer for reminders that I find important in day to day life. The rest can be seen on Flickr.

I'm also creating an additional piece for the show which explores prayer and the need for surrender. A photo of that soon I hope.

The "Prayer" show at Frankenart Mart will be open January 18th - April 12 so stop on by to check it out if you are in San Francisco. 515 Balboa St. @ 6th Ave. SF

The William Collection opening reception went swimmingly with a nice sized turn out of old and new friends and art mavens. So much time painting and working it took a little distraction to get back out there and show something. It's time and there are more shows in the works. But for now...

What's on: "William" pseudo documentary photos of my lil plastic muse William
Where: Porcelynne Boutique & Gallery 487 14th St. @ Guerrero SF,CA
When: May 2nd - May 31st
Opening reception Friday May 11th 6pm - 10pm

The show will be up all month long but if you are in the SF Area please come by the opening on Friday the 11th. The gallery owner is doing all kinds of crazy promotions for the show - including a "Win a Date with William" drawing, photo booth with William as well as special limited edition lingerie, which he'll be wearing for the show. Yes indeed he's becoming a lil plastic star. This would be the third time he's had couture made just for him. I've even added a new photo to the series for the occasion (the first in several years). The show is also an official part of SF Art Fest - woo hoo!

See: http://www.juliennegivot.com/william/index.htm
Make friends: http://www.myspace.com/ohmywilliam

I hope this finds you all well.

After an almost 8 month hiatus the PurseCam section of my website has been updated. Only a handful of new images are there but that's a start (or restart rather). I began the whole thing to keep myself shooting every day -guess I slacked a bit. My new-ish cell phone camera is slightly better than the old one but I still like the crappy quality. I tend to carry my other camera with me too so the page contains images of both good and poor resolution.

The Masomo Project book has kept me busy so there is not much new happening in the world of painting. I am aching to get at least 3 more paintings done to complete the new series. It's been quite a move to the more narrative/illustration style for me. Representational work is still a challenge for me technically but I've always been the type that learns by doing. Feel free to use this link to see the 3 completed paintings.

I'm also preparing for a solo show at the Procelynne Gallery in May. I'll be showing the William series with a few new images of ole Will in some custom made lingerie. Been painting quite a lot as well. The 3 images below are 'work in progress'. A friend has graciously volunteered to help me learn some real technique. I've been happily flailing about with what little I remember from my 2 semesters of painting in high school. Guess it's time to take a crack at representational art but I can tell you already that I really prefer to paint from my head. I'm stubborn I guess.

Oil on Canvas:
Sock Puppet! work in progress

The first of what I think will be a narrative series:
Progression of the Moon -work in progress

Sometimes I Live on the Sun -work in progress

I quit the day job and am taking some time for creative projects. Yay! Part of December was dedicated to holiday stuff and clearing off a big ole 'to-do' list that I'd accumulated over the past year. Now I'm settling down to the projects at hand. Namely:

Curating, editing and putting together a photographic pictorial book of Africa. The sales proceeds will go directly to the Masomo Project which is dedicated to providing education for underprivileged children in Africa. So far 23 photographers have enlisted to lend their beautiful images of Africa and I'm in the middle of the daunting task of selecting and editing them into the book. Projected publication date is May 2007.

Website re-vamp. My site is long overdue for an overhaul. New images need to be added and old stuff removed. I plan on adding my painting work in addition to an updated look and feel. Completing a short montage of my time in Africa is part of this project as well.

Writing! This one might be long term but I'm doing some work on a screenplay. Nobody gets details on that for a while. ;)

That's all for now. Feel free to view my profile on MySpace It's more personal than art related but I blog there as well and update it much more often than this one.

Be well and Happy New Year!!
love, Julienne

Africa was AMAZING and I miss it already. Everything went so smoothly and I had what I consider the best kind of vacation where there is both lots of adventure and some relaxation.

Below: Taken from the plane on the way to Zanzibar

We spent 5 days in Zanzibar - which was awesome but a little strange because it was Ramadan and folks were a little low on energy. Zanzibar is 90% Islamic and to pay respect we didn't eat or drink anything in public. Luckily the local posh hotel was a haven where we could hang out and relax with a beer without offending anyone.

Below: Sunset from the Serena Hotel in Stone Town, Zanzibar

Stone Town although heavy on the touristy stuff was also intense and beautiful - the main center is all tiny crowded alley ways. The area is known for it's ornate spiked doors. Photos below:

We had dinner in an open air market and feasted on some of the best 'street food' that I've ever had.

Below: Fharo Dani Market

Pictures indeed tell the best story and I've posted some at the link below.
Africa Photos

Sunrise over the Indian Ocean:

Thandie and I at the Hakuna Majiwe Resort in Paje,Zanzibar:

Thanks for all of your well wishes and notes while I've been away. Well the sounds of popping have been going off like gangbusters for me lately. The post-it show in the UK, new paintings, sock puppets and a couple of new things have popped themselves to the surface recently.

One of the more exciting pop's of inspiration is helping raise funds to build a school in Tanzania, Africa. My friend, work colleague and informally adopted little brother Steven has a sister who has been teaching in Mwanza, Tanzania since 2002. She along with friends and family started an organization called The Masomo Project. The Masomo Project aims to provide an education for Tanzanian orphans, and thus give them a chance to a better future.

Even though I'd known Steven's sister Tini was working in Africa (and his other sister is working there on behalf of OxFam) for some reason today something went POP! I realized that it would not be that difficult to raise funds and get people motivated to help. This is no Sally Struthers fronted giant charity yanking on your heartstrings - these are people I know - who use 100 percent of the money raised to improve the lives of these children - and in turn, their community - and the world.

Do take a moment to visit their website. The Masomo Project Please be on the lookout for fundraisers in the coming months! For now your ideas and thoughts would be appreicated and if you are not in the Bay Area - maybe an idea for a fund raiser where you live? Bake sale, garage sale, art sale etc.

Some of the students in Mwanza, Tanzania

My chin dropped when I found out that it will only cost $40,000 to build the school. That's all? People spend that on a car here!

My other inspiration is a photo project - i'll blog that later maybe - but for now this is a top priority to shout out about. So stay tuned!

So Flannery, Dave and I have all submitted brand new work for a show in a gallery in the UK next month.

It's called the "Post It" show and all work is to be created with only two stipulations. Even if all I have to report is navel staring...

New Years day this year marked my first foray into oil painting since 1991. It was just time to get back to something more tactile and something that I have been thinking about doing for quite some time. I've been drawing with watercolors for a few years now but the capability and commitment of oil painting was needed to bring some of my new ideas to light. I seriously have no idea what I am doing since my last formal class in oils was back in high school but I love the process. It's meditative, mesmerizing, frustrating and fabulous all at once. I might even like the process more than the product right now but I am trying not to be so hard on my fledgling efforts. I’ll share some photos as soon as I have something fit to show.

There is a new stamp design on my site which might give you an idea of the direction some of my paintings are taking. I'm fascinated by all the power lines and birds on my street. Let me know what you think.

I’ll be in another group show next month and should have a final copy of a music video that I did for a local band ready to go soon as well. Well yes and my good friend Alan Reade has a new show that is ALL about those Bad Gays. Alan is a well known performance artist with a bent (pun intended) for satire. His new show premieres at Eros next week on Wednesday July 20th.

Being a good friend and world class fag hag I am not only helping promote, I am also the pre-show. I will be warming up the crowd with my own interactive performance piece called "Confession Concession". My alter ego 'Ms. J" will be hearing 'confessions' concession style behind the counter right there at Eros (it's a gay sex club folks). Think Dr. Melfi from the Sopranos + Lucy from the Peanuts gang + a tad bit of Graham Norton hearing your gayest (or sluttiest) sins. I'll be taking donations for Shanti a very worthwhile non-profit for my 'services'

This is the only show scheduled - for now so if you are interested -do check it out.
WARNing: Alan's show is pretty explicit (verbally) and the venue is a gay sex club so expect it to be raw. All genders/orientations are welcome however. I mean please, the opening act is a straight girl!

WHAT: Bad Gays and Confession Concession
WHEN: Wednesday July 20th {7pm Confession}  {8pm Bad Gays}
WHERE: Club Eros 2051 Market St. @ 14th, SF,CA

PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO ANYONE ELSE WHO MIGHT BE INTERESTED!
For more information visit Alan's website

"I snorked coffee out my nose!" This I took as a compliment when a viewer responded to my work online. My mac at home won't let me log into this site and doing so from work has been difficult. But wait I have more excuses! It's been a slow start to the year with most of my energies going into new yet-to-be-published work. The few shows I had lined up for last month I either skipped or were cancelled. I'm sort of getting picky about venues and places that don't carry insurance for the art after some were broken or stolen from events last year.

Not to worry though - there are more events coming up so stay tuned!

In the mean time I have been working on a short abstract film / music video for a local band called "Foxtail Somersault". The film is over 7 mins long (a new record for me) and will be viewable in about a month. The music is fabulous and I think works really nicely with my film style. For more information on the band check out this link Foxtail Somersault

I am also an official promoter and web mistress for another local band fronted by two good friends of mine. They are called "Deranged Pussy" and their fledging site (designed by yours truly) can be found here Deranged Pussy A site that I hope to improve soon...

Don't forget to poke around my Purse Cam page - that is something I do manage to update once or twice a month. For those visually starved visit the Archive page - which is only linked from here for now.

I have been totally remiss in my duty to make these updates - sorry.
Happy New Year though! The end of 2004 was so hectic, I did little to plan for new shows or even do new work for the start of 2005. I do however have a couple of BIG things planned for '05.

<short>SHORT FILM : I am partnering with my friend and creative collaborator Kim Woo to create an original short film this year. It will be written by Kim and co-directed by yours truly. We have been throwing ideas around for a few weeks and starting to develop some story lines. This is will be hush hush until things are gelled a bit more - but I wanted to drop a hint about it because I am utterly excited (if not a bit scared) about this new endeavour.

<experimental>EXPERIMENTAL: In the mean time I have a couple of experimental very short films that I plan to produce in the early part of the year as well. These are project I can work on here and there with out a huge deadline - which suits me fine.

<shows>SHOWS: So far the only show booked for the first part of the year is an installation of DYWM? at the Canvas Gallery in SF. I believe the opening is on Valentine's Day - but I will send the confirmed details to my local email list when I have them.

<pursecam>PURSECAM: My super not so secret Pursecam page has a bunch of new images on it. All are from the camera in my mobile phone. Yes i know i should change the name to 'PhoneCam' but you all get the point either way. The Pursecam idea is to just take photos of things that I see on a regular basis. 'Capture an image because it's there' is my credo for this ongoing project and it does well to keep me in the mind set of always looking at things and seeing my everyday life in a new perspective. Please let me know what you think about the images/idea and check back often as I update the page once a month or more.

LOOKING: I am in the processing of looking for an 'opposite number' / fellow artist in New York City to work with for local promotion /gallery entre on both coasts. If you know if anyone who might be interested, please let me know.

<> Once again PURSE CAM has been updated! It's done and ready to go but I would love your feedback. Check it out here and let me know what you think: William World!

{news} I have been comissioned to create a doll house mixed media piece for an upcoming group show at the Dollhause Gallery in Brooklyn, NY. Eeek the show is in September so I have better get crackin!

{news} SF area shows for the late summer/early fall in the SF Area are being booked soon. More when I have details...

{news} I have officially started a new photo project called El Luchador! which is all about Mexican Wrestlers (yeah the masked guys). I have been mulling this over for a while and am pleased to have actually gotten my first installment done. I'm hoarding the images until I have more to show - but be on the look out for some interesting stuff.

{ other } I feel lazy some days because I don't seem to ever get the whole check list done. Hmm, then i realize how many irons that I have in the proverbial fire and think that I'm lucky I manage to sleep at all. Other interesting tid bits are that I am working on a website for a friend's band, creating retail catalogs for another friend's jewelery company ( SiraO ) and putting in some hours and late nights helping some friends promote their montly nightclub (OPEN ). Lazy? ha in over my head is more like it. No complaints as long as there is coffee to drink!

Purse Cam has been updated! Only a few new photos this time. I have also created an archive gallery of all of the Pursecam images. It will not be linked from the main site, so for now, the ONLY place to get to it is here:PURSECAM archive gallery.

In other news....

I have booked the DYWM? show at the Canvas Gallery in SF for February next year. The last couple of weeks have been filled with more work on the short film project from last year. The Writer/Director has added some scenes and changed the story quite a bit. We filmed for 4 days last week in SF, Oakland and a farm in Petaluma. The title has also been changed from "The Big Forty" to "The Second Shine". I was brought on as Associate Producer and worked my tail off to get 3 vintage cars, scout lots of locations and help keep things on schedule. Oh and I took care of the craft service and catering too. There is so much more that goes into film making and it was even more evident this time that it takes a team and lots of team work to get things done. I'll be adding photos to the site in a week or two. Lots of work - but fun stuff! This is definitely a team that I want to work with again.

I am also still working on moving my DYWM show around, trying first to book something in SF and then on to LA and hopefully back east again. At least that's the plan for now - i might be really tired of seeing the darn thing by then. Trying to work on new projects in film and mixed media too. We'll see what kind of productive summer I have...

I've just added a one minute sample (w/sound) to my page for the DYWM installation piece.
Here's a direct link.

PURSECAM has been updated!
Go on now, check it out!

I'm back from the east! Ten days of subways, snow, art, old friends, new friends, food, drink, art and more art. The opening night reception went quite well despite a little snafu with the F train not running to Brooklyn that night. Photos from the premiere event can be found here.

I also had a chance to visit many galleries in the Chelsea, Soho and Williamsburg districts. My eyes are bleeding! But the work was great by and large and the Whitney Biennial was a highlight. If you are in the NYC area between now and May 30th, I highly recommend that you go.

I have other stuff brewing on the west coast so it's back to business. Through a series of projected images
accumulated from various online-dating websites, a simultaneous
score, and voiceovers based on actual personal ads, the viewer is put
in the center of a virtual marketplace of nameless individuals
promulgating themselves in order to, at least ostensibly, attract a
mate. The question of intent is raised in viewing the variety and
conformity of the images. While no image or statement is
duplicated throughout the 10-minute cycle, there is an inescapable sense of
the repetition and banality of the subjects' self-made and incomplete public
images, and perhaps also of the very act of blind introduction.

Voyeurism is very much a component in these sometimes searingly intimate
self-portraits, as are feelings of pride and disaffected ego. The summed
imagery questions the internet's supposed communicative power and its
ability to isolate and associate individuals seeking common ground and
intimacy. What other media provides such ready access to the exploration of
such themes?

"Do You Want Me?" seems at first glance to involve others. Visiting the
gallery space, the viewer is at a safe remove from the insecurity of the
internet. Yet the installation combines elements of the real and unreal that
quickly prompt questions of intent not only in the projected subjects but
also among visitors themselves--who will have their own needs and avenues
for self-advertising.

The installation is accompanied by "The William Collection," a series of
photographic images based on conceptions of intimacy and publicity. The
subject is a 15" tall plastic doll who serves as a foil for the artist's
photographic exploration of gender, perspective, and the prospect of an
entirely solo existence. William is depicted in scenes of ordinary import,
self-reflection and abstraction. Apparently androgynous, William also draws
the viewer to ponder the popular social norms of gender identification in
seeking companionship and/or personal satisfaction.

Original sound score for "Do You Want Me?" was created by composer Dorsey Dunn and a small collection of companion books for the "William Collection" were created by artist Flannery Bateman.

This is the debut showing of both works.

<>Going Solo
No firm dates have been set but in late March I'll be having my first solo gallery show at the ArtScape gallery in the d.u.m.b.o section of Brooklyn. A photographer is a hunter in so many ways. Every waking hour is an adventure in observation. Whether sitting on the bus, out with friends or waiting in the dentist office there are always things to observe and capture. Most of the time it's luck or serendipity other times it's just 'shoot first, ask questions later'. In any case I'd lke to share some of these observations with you. I've gathered a few old ones and added them to a handful shot in the last month or so. For now you can see them here: PurseCam

The idea is to update the collection once a month as new images are made and meet the approval of my oh so critical editor (um wait that's me!). Bad me for not posting anything for so long. I could blame the holidays and the fact that I just moved to a new apartment but in the spirit of my new year's ban on excuses I'll just let ya know what's going on now.

There are shows in the works for the spring on the east coast. Nothing settled enough to mention but exciting none the less. My muse William is getting some much warranted attention from art mavens and gallery folk so I expect you'll be seeing more about him. I am going to be collaborating with a friend and fellow artist to create an art book based on some of his adventures this year as well.

I am also in the process of creating a multimedia sound/vision installation piece relating to how people are using internet personals for self examination, ego etc. I hope to premiere this new work (when it's finally ready) locally first and then take it to New York and possibly Boston. There is also the possibility of re-creating this concept in collaboration with other artists, making each iteration unique for each showing. Exciting stuff I tell yah!

Concept work and collaboration seem to be the watch words for 2004.

Hope you all had wonderful holidays!

I just finished a couple of additional days of filming for the short film "The Big Forty". This time I was bumped up to Associate Producer in addition to Craft Service and film still duty. It was great to be back with the team if only for a short while. Things went pretty smoothly despite a very cold and wet day spent on 2 different farms in Santa Rosa. If you want more information on the film check out the production company's website Pompadour Pictures More information on screenings and film festival entries as it becomes available.

I couldn't have managed it without the help of my faithful friends who pitched in as production assistants. I showed some new work at a special VAAM (Viv and a Movie) event on Saturday 10/4/03. Good crowd - lots of fun and all at the last minute for me. The organizers forgot to send me the formal invitation to show my work so I found out about it by spotting my name in their list of featured artists the day before the show. It worked out well anyway and it was about time I got some of my stuff 'out there' again anyway.

I have been working on my new solo website and plotting more formal showings of my work for the winter spring season. I have a couple of new concept pieces that I am pretty excited about but will take a while to complete. The film project was an exhausting but excellent experience. The film is called "The Big 40" and is a 1950's hit-man story. The director plans to get it edited and submitted to film festivals in the Fall.

I have another film project to work on but it looks like it's been side tracked again. sigh. Otherwise, William will be taking front and center for a while, in addition to some work I plan to do with Claudia - my other plastic muse. This show will be particularly good and will include Dorsey Dunn’s installation of 12 speakers, suspended by wires, with 8 tracks of voice and sound running through them. That will be the most conceptual piece we have, but there will also be a ton of stellar traditional art work. DJ Kerri will also be back – he was a hit at our last opening.

NY Arts and The Canvas Present:
From SOHO to San Francisco
This show has been curated in collaboration with New York Arts Magazine. It brings together two ascending painters from New York with seven of the most progressive San Francisco artists, all of whom are pushing the envelope in their respective media: painting, sculpture, photography, video, and conceptual art. "From SOHO to San Francisco" seeks to create a forum between the Bay Area and New York where disparate visions cross-pollinate, tensions are created and resolved, and both communities are enriched.
New York Artists: Alfred J. I don't have a date yet but it will be sometime in June. This is a pretty major event for the social/arts scene in SF so I am psyched to get this kind of exposure. Now if only I could get back to making more films...

<> I am now the proud owner of www.juliennegivot.com . Yes, I finally broke down and got my own domain. It was an agonizing decision to make - so many choices out there but I went with the obvious this time. Working on building the site out - will let you know when there's something to see. I will have a sub site to promote Theek Aachay productions - my art film division. It's about time that I pulled my stuff out of diaspora and all into one site.

A bit of a blast from the past...one of my photographs taken at a 'Cramps' concert was recently purchased for use in a calendar promoting a club in North Carolina (view calendar cover here) . I am also working on a promotional kit to send to galleries and curatorial committees. This is the real work, but thankfully I happen to have some very talented friends who have offered to help me out. I haven't chosen a domain name yet and am pretty much down to julienne.tv and aspitintheocean.com. The latter reflects my philosophy toward the life of a creative work after it had been finished and I suppose a bit of my humor as well. It also has a lot of metaphorical meat to it. If you have a favorite between the two, pop off an email to me ok?

Meanwhile it’s back to juggling many projects at once. I am working with 2 Uncles and a Cousin to get a 5-10 min scene, screenplay and promotional package together in order to try to sell the film for feature production. The original thought was to run it through the LA Film School’s Feature Development program but we are too short on time and even shorter on commitment for 3 of us to move to LA for 8 months to attend the program. Maybe later but not now thanks. So we forge ahead on our own. I’ve started another blog dedicated to the trials and tribulations of the project. You can check out BlindlyInspired if you are interested.

Another is some fiction writing that I have been virtually obsessed with. To the point that I’m getting up 2 hours early before work and staying up late to work on. Why? I honestly haven’t a clue but I’m doing it anyway. Haven’t thought about publishing it yet – just forging ahead under the guise that it might be a good exercise. We’ll see what happens.

I’ve slowed a bit on shopping out my artwork (who has the time?) but am focusing on getting it into more established galleries. I guess looking to build the quality than quantity in showings.

Having a job again takes some getting used to. I am taking an essay writing class and toying with some fiction work as well. I enjoy writing but it is a very intimidating art form for me. I have also been getting involved in other artist's creative projects. It's really very interesting and broadening to be subject or part of someone else's work. A few weeks ago I posed for an artist named Daniel Huenergardt who is working on a 3D digital painting project. I won't see the final work for a while but will share the final work when the time comes. Quite enlightening to be on the other side of the camera for once.

Next week I'll be contributing my voice and random stories for a sound installation project by Dorsey Dunn . More information on the project that will be installed in April at the 'eighth floor gallery' in New York .

The Viv and a Movie showing was a great success. I sold several pieces and got some very positive feedback on the new work. Not bad for a 3 hour show I'd say. It was a great time with ecclectic art, film and a really solid band headlining the show. I'd recommend it for anyone who wants to get out on a Monday night (in SF anyway).

No solid plans yet for where I will show this work next but I have a couple of things in the works. I will be submitting some of my film-lets for an upcoming Viv so if you missed it this time - you might have another chance. Big thanks again to my supporters who made it out for me on Monday!

One of my digital collage pieces will be on display at Turn of the Century Fine Arts in Berkeley. My work will be a part of Viv and a Movie a weekly event incorporating live music, independent film and art. Locals - I'll send more information out as the date approaches.

The new work has yet to be titled but is a low-fi approach to some of my more hi-fi images. Each image printed via a large format Xerox machine (about 20" x 30" or larger) and consists of one or more of my original images manipulated in Photoshop. There are currently a dozen or so of these, but I am in the process of editing them down to maybe 6 or 7. This project was created in response to my recently re-kindled interest in pop-art, duplication process effects and reaction to being an underfunded artist again. In the spirit of this new low-fi / hi-fi experiment I will be pricing these non numbered prints very reasonably (in the $15 - 30 range)

I am tentatively calling this work "Inked". For those of you who live too far away to make the trip, here are a few photos of our installation. It was a great success despite some earlier snafus with the size and orientation of the space. We got copious amounts of compliments and even a few tears while people admired our commemoration of the late, great Jim Henson. It was the first time Chanda and I had worked together since high school and while it was a lot of work to put together, I think I can speak for both us when I say that the smiles and great feedback from the festival goers made it all worthwhile. Look for the launch announcement soon!

<> NEWS Flash <>
The Oakland Unity Council has accepted a proposal put forward by myself and friend/fellow artist Chanda Beck to create an altar for the annual "Dia de los Muertos" festival in Oakland. To read more about the festival, check this out : Day the Dead Festival
Chanda and I have chosen to commemorate Jim Henson for our altar - so you can be sure it will be a whimsical and muppet filled creation.
